Screeny App Reviews

Snow Leopard

Lion only? What a shame...

Paid for an app that I can’t use.

“cannot decode” that’s all this app returns when you ask for it record your screen. What a shame.

ok for the price

easy to use - hard to find the files… come on! the users have to able to set the location of the caputres..

Disappointing

I cant get this program to record audio through the microphone by default. Only when triggering that manually (command not available in menu, just as shortcut) does it work. UI is far from self-explanatory. Video quality is decent, though. Id recommend getting another one or using OS X Quicktime.

unusable

…since all the time you are not recording, the damn frame (which determines the area that will be recorded) is in the way and captures the mouse - you can’t click on anything unless you record 24/7 and you can’t set the folder where recordings are saved (yes some ppl do have more than one HDD) unfinished program

Great App

After paying over $30 for other applications such as "ishowu" and complicated and difficult user interfaces, this is by far the best screen recording app I have used so far. Quick, easy, smooth. I highly recommend it, good job to Drew for the great launch!

Works Ok

Works well, except it uses massive amounts of CPU. My MacBook Pros fans start going full-speed after about 2 minutes of recording, which is bad for recording screencasts. Simple to use, although the interface is a little non-standard.

I like it but needs improvement

I like the app but needs some improvement, like the option to pause, the camera icon doest take picutres when is recording video, it also should make some sort of sound when you take a picture of the screen. other than that I like it and would totally buy it.

Bad

This does not grab video audio it just opens the mic. This was a waste at 2.99... the video is pixelated. This a bad app...

Best Screen Recording App I Have Seen

This is the best screen recording app i have every seen. The recording quality is AMAZING!! It can record in true HD (1080p) and there is no mouse/cursor delay while recording.

All I need is a SIMPLE screen recording for many purposes.

Great alternative app over ScreenFlow 2 which costs $99+ insane price. I do know $99 offers a lot of features but for user like me. All I need a screen recording to record some demo and tutorial for web purposes. Narration and other could be added with Adobe CS. This little app delivery quality and small file size. Screenflow takes over 500mb on some recording due it is higher RAW quality. Full screen record at 2560x1440 for 30sec takes about 20-30mb only. ⅓ size recording took 2.2mb. This is so small pre-compressed that I could deliver it by email easily. Highly recommended.

Just great!

Amazing little screen capture app. Theres nothing else to say, really. It does its job perfectly and you can make the capture area whichever size you like.

Great, but limited use-case.

This app is undeniably well done. Its fast, cute and slick. Its great for describing bugs to people or showing someone how to find that obscure Skype preference that will solve all of their problems. Unfortunately what its not great at is actual _screencasts_, like the kind you want to publish online and possibly sell. The video quality is just not good enough for a professional quality video. Oh well, for 15 bucks its still a good buy if you dont plan on making professional screencasts. The CloudApp auto-upload feature is especially handy and makes for a really quick workflow.

this is not a reviw

so far i can not use a usb mic with this can you fix that in the next update????

Was a great app

Then one day the app said it had an update.....and low and behold....the update can not be installed on Snow Leopard. So The sold me a product to which bug fixes are now only being made to newer versions of the OS.....Seriously? Were not talking about somehting that is 5, 8 , 10 years old.... Were talking a version of OS X which is reasonably current and supported...and your only fix was to make something in compatible? I will never do business with these guys again for such poor workmanship as to do this...feels like Microsofts influence with office upgrades...

What happened?

This was such a great little utility… but be warned all, it doesnt work on Mountain Lion and the developer has by all accounts abandoned the software. The support forums are full of people looking for help with no response from him. Too bad, I purchased this for a bunch of my users - time to find another solution.

Camera does not activate

I actually purchased this just for the PIP camera feature. Many others are having the same issue where their camera is not activating. I would stay away for now until they resolve this.

Sound bug

Sound not working on long videos with built in microphone (macbook pro)… and by long videos I mean anything over a minute has not recorded the audio. Even though it says 2 channel audio in the video file. If I make a 10 second clip to test the audio, it works. Then if I make a clip that lasts around a minute or longer, no sound. I gave it 3 stars as the compression is good, the video is good, the mouse click feature is good, though would be nice to see a differentiation between the right click and the left click (minor, but would be nice). This isnt the first time this software has acted up… a while back there was a bug that wouldnt let you stop recording, though v2.2 seems to have fixed this problem. Sadly, this program seems to not be running 100% for a while now, for me anyhow. Macbook pro 17" running Mac OS X 10.8.4

Doesnt work in Mavericks

The app completely crashes in mavericks. Don’t waste your money.

Simple and powerful utility

Seems to work fine on OS X Yosemite. I would like to see a preference to change the video save path and the ability to record internal system audio.
